Last week it was reported that the iPhone 5 might launch on September 21. Now additional details have surfaced that make it appear likely that Apple's next-generation smartphone will be revealed as early as Sept. 12 and then later released on Sept. 21.
iMore was the first to report that according to reliable, but unnamed sources, Apple is going to hold a special media event on the week of Wednesday September 12. This has since been confirmed by AllthingsD with additional unnamed sources. iMore further states that according to their sources that the iPhone 5 will indeed be showcased at this event 9 days prior to its release date.
Update: Now both Reuters and Bloomberg say they can confirm that Apple is planning to unveil its new smartphone on Sept. 12.
In March, it was noted that Apple was shooting for an October release date, much like last year's iPhone 4S. This has apparently changed.
Earlier reports have possible revealed some of the hardware details, such as a larger screen and 4G LTE.
