The recently-announced Samsung Galaxy Note II is definitely headed for the U.S. -- the question is which carriers will be offering it? According to one source, the answer is "all of them. "
The original Galaxy Note has done quite well, selling over 10 million units globally. Carriers have apparently taken notice and are going to get on the bandwagon.
Only AT&T and T-Mobile picked up the original version, but its successor will apparently be much more broadly available. According to Brief Mobile, this upcoming super-size smartphone with a stylus will also be offered by Verizon, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular... even Cincinnati Bell will get in on this game.
If any wireless carriers were hesitant about offering this device (whose size will be significantly larger than most of its competition), Samsung has the means to put pressure on them; the Samsung Galaxy S III is wildly popular, giving its maker tremendous leverage in the mobile industry.
T-Mobile's Slip-up
T-Mobile seems to have realized that it made a mistake by waiting to introduce the first-generation Galaxy Note until just a month or so before the second-generation model was unveiled. And for weeks now, the device has been listed as "out of stock" on its website. Some are taking this as a sign that the carrier is just biding its time until it can release the Galaxy Note II.
More about the Galaxy Note II
This tabletphone will offer a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1280 x 720 resolution. It will be 0.2-inches larger than the original Galaxy Note, but it will also offer a lower resolution, as the Galaxy Note has a 1280 x 800 resolution.
The device will run Android 4.1 OS (Jelly Bean) on a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor. The tabletphone will offer 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB options, an improved 3,100 mAh battery, and HSPA Plus or 4G LTE connectivity. The Galaxy Note II will come with an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9 megapixel front-facing one.
