Amazon is making the Samsung Galaxy S III more attractive than ever, slashing the price of the 16GB model by half, selling the device for just $100 with a new two-year contract.
With Apple set to announce the next-generation iPhone later today, perhaps the Internet retailer is trying to tempt smartphone shoppers currently swaying between the flagship handsets.
Typically, the 16GB version of Sammy's latest and greatest sells for $200 with a new contract. But those in the market for a new high-end smartphone better act fast, as Amazon said the deal will only last for a very limited time, though the company did not specify when it would expire.
While the discount is limited to Verizon, AT&T and Sprint contracts (but excludes T-Mobile) customers who already have an account with one of the carriers and wish to upgrade to the third generation Galaxy S can get a small price cut as well, with Amazon offering Sprint and Verizon users $50 off the device and AT&T buyers a $20 price cut. Users can also get a discount by adding a family line, bumping the price down to $119 for the Sprint version and $139 for Verizon.
Customers can choose from blue, white and red versions of the smartphone, depending on their carrier, and will receive the handset in two days thanks to Amazon's free two-day shipping.
Since launching in May, the Galaxy S III has proved to be extremely popular among consumers, with Samsung touting the device as its quickest-selling smartphone, selling 20 million units in just 100 days.
Sporting a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 1280 x 720 display, the Samsung Galaxy III runs Android 4.0 on a dual-core processor and features 4G LTE, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, and 1.9 megapixel front-facing one.
