Apple iPhone 5 Can Be Pre-ordered Now from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint

Apple's next flagship smartphone went on sale early this morning, and it's clearly selling well -- Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint still have enough of a stockpile that units pre-ordered now will be delivered on Launch Day, but not Apple itself.

Pre-ordering began at midnight Pacific Time last night, and in about an hour Apple was out of its reserve. The company is telling potential customers that it won't be able to deliver the iPhone 5 for two weeks, which means after the Sept. 21 debut.

However, as of 10:15 this morning, the websites of Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint all indicate that orders placed now will be delivered a week from today.

The next smartphone from Apple is going to be the company's first with 4G LTE, and the size of the touchscreen is increasing as well, from 3.5 inches in its predecessor to 4.0 inches.

It's going to debut running iOS 6 on an Apple A6 dual-core processor. The smartphone will have an 8MP rear-facing camera, as well as a lower-resolution front-facing one.
