AT&T has two big-name smartphones on the docket for release soon, and if a recent rumor is anything to go on, they'll be out well before the holidays.
According to an inside source at AT&T, the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Samsung Galaxy Note II will both be introduced on the carrier's network on October 21. The source originally reported this date to BGR, which in turned contacted AT&T for confirmation, but a spokesperson for the company had no comment.
The Lumia 920, which was unveiled at a joint Nokia/Microsoft event in New York City a couple of weeks ago, will be running the next-generation version of Microsoft's mobile OS, Windows Phone 8. The Galaxy Note II, meanwhile, was revealed prior to the IFA trade show back in August. We recently got our hands on the Lumia 920 and the Galaxy Note II to get some initial impressions.
While this rumored release date jives with previous information regarding the launch of the Galaxy Note II, which Samsung Mobile chief JK Shin recently stated will be released in October, it doesn't quite mesh with recent news regarding the status of Windows Phone 8. Supposedly, Windows Phone 8 not quite finished and the OS has an alleged launch date of October 29, with the release of the actual handsets following shortly thereafter in early November.
