Motorola RAZR i: Android Smartphone Powered by 2GHz Intel Processor

Motorola has revealed that its union with Intel is bearing fruit in the form of an Intel-powered smartphone called the RAZR i, launching in Europe next month.

Although it is going to share many similar specs with the recently-released Motorola Droid RAZR M -- including a 4.3-inch display and Kevlar coating -- the RAZR i will have one crucial difference under the hood: it will be powered by one of Intel's latest mobile chips, a 2GHz processor.

Other specs are going to include an 8-megapixel camera, NFC compatibility, water-repellent coating, and Android OS 4.x; whether it will be shipping with Jelly Bean or Ice Cream Sandwich has yet to be confirmed.

According to a UK retailer, the RAZR i stock is expected to arrive on October 1 in the UK, with the SIM-free version of the phone going for 342 GBP, or roughly $555. While the RAZR i is confirmed for release in the UK, France, Germany, and Brazil, but there is no word yet on whether or not it will see a North American release.

That being said, grey market retailer Expansys is currently accepting pre-orders for the phone, thus allowing U.S. residents to get their hands on the international version of the RAZR i. There is no guarantee, however, that it will fully support any of the American wireless networks.
