HTC Announces One X+, US Launch Date Coming Later

HTC announced an enhanced follow up to its lauded One X smartphone today, the appropriately-named One X+.

Nearly every aspect of the handset is going to be been improved, including the processor, which will be a Tegra 3 AP37 quad-core chip, clocking in at 1.7 GHz.

The One X+ will also ship with Android 4.1, aka Jelly Bean, and will be skinned with HTC's Sense 4+ UI. This new version of the Sense UI will soon be available on existing handsets as well; HTC said that it will begin rolling out to the One S and One X sometime this month.

The phone's battery is another area of improvement, as it will be a larger, 2100 mAh battery, providing up to 50% more longevity, or roughly 6 hours. HTC also claims that the LTE connectivity of the One X+ is up to 67% faster than that of its predecessor, making it the "best-rated Android phone on the market."

The HTC One X+ will be available in Europe and North Asia starting later this month, while availability South Asia will begin in November. Unfortunately, HTC has said that North American availability of the One X+ will be revealed in a separate announcement, at which time it will presumably provide pricing information as well.
