According to TechRadar, the rumor surfaces from Germany where the company has reportedly sent invitations to press that states: "That's how big small can be". While there has yet to be any official response from Samsung, the tagline is widely believed to reference a smaller version of the 4.8-inch Galaxy S III.
The report further speculates that the Galaxy S III Mini will in actuality not be that mini, as it is expected to offer a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen.
Still, the device is expected to include somewhat scaled back specs compared to its predecessor, including a 5MP camera and lower-power processor. However, the device is also expected to be far more wallet friendly as a result.
If the report holds up to be true, consumers can expect to see the Galaxy S III Mini on October 11 at a Samsung press event.
Considering that this rumor all but mirrors the speculations that came before Apple's recent release of the iPhone 5, it seems more than plausible that we will see a new handset. Much like the iPhone 5, if the Galaxy S III is revealed at Samsung's upcoming press event, it would be safe to say that consumers can expect the handset to release sometime shortly after.
