Sprint announced not too long ago that it will soon offer the upcoming LG Optimus G in its retail stores. Sprint made an official announcemant that the device will be available in stores on November 11, which is 9 days after the handset is set to hit shelves at AT&T retailers.
The Hardware
The LG Optimus G is going to offer a large 4.7-inch WXGA True HD IPS Display with a 1280 x 768 resolution. The handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz per core, and it will run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
The smartphone will house a 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with HD video capture capabilities, and will also include a front facing camera. The device will be both 3G and 4G LTE capable, and will offer the ability to support up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously.
Pricing and Availability
Interestingly, the Sprint and AT&T hardware is not identical. The major difference between the two devices is Sprints' more powerful 13 megapixel rear camera compared to AT&T's 8 megapixel rear-shooter. However, despite the differing specs, both retailers will be offering the LG Optimus G for $200 with a two-year contract.
Sprint customers can pre-order the smartphone at sprint.com starting Thursday, Nov. 1, with it set to release Nov. 11. On the other hand, the device is already available for pre-order from AT&T and will be available in AT&T retailers starting Nov. 2.
