Microsoft employees may have given the world a first look at the smartphone their company is developing. Pictures of this device have appeared on Microsoft's own website.
There have been rumors and speculation of late that Microsoft is going to go beyond developing the Windows Phone operating system and will release its own devices running it. These will supposedly be part of the Surface line, to go with the Surface tablets that will be released next week.
Part of the advertising for Microsoft's upcoming tablet is pictures of people using it. Sitting next to these people in two of these images is an unknown handset. It's possible this is the Surface smartphone.
No specifics about this device can be determined from the pictures, other than it's apparently going to be black with silver trim, include the three standard Windows Phone buttons, and run Windows Phone 8 .
According to a previous unconfirmed report, the Microsoft Surface smartphone is going to debut in the first half of 2013.
