Samsung Galaxy Note II Now Available from Sprint

Sprint has just become the second U.S. telecom to offer Samsung's latest phablet, the Galaxy Note II. Only time will tell if it turns out to be as popular as its predecessor.

When the original Galaxy Note debuted last year, and its 5.3-inch display caused some to label it as too big to succeed. Despite these predictions, Samsung went on to sell over 10 million of them.

The new model increases the screen size a bit, and adds other improvements.

Launch Details

The Note II can now be purchased from Sprint. The carrier is asking $300 with a two-year contract, putting the device well above the typical price for a smartphone. Without the subsidy, the device is $650.

This tabletphone is going to be very broadly available. T-Mobile introduced its version yesterday, while AT&T and Verizon have begun taking pre-orders -- they will launch the product in November.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Overview

This is one of the first models to launch with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). This mobile operating system runs on a quad-core 1.6GHz Samsung Exynos processor, with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, and a microSD slot

The highlight of the Galaxy Note II is a 5.5-inch, Super AMOLED Plus Touchscreen with a 1280 x 720 resolution. The device includes both an 8-megapixel rear- and 1.9-megapixel front-facing cameras

Sprint's version can connect to this company's nascent 4G LTE network, and it comes in two colors: white and dark grey. It is kerpt running by a 3100 mAh battery.

Overall, this smartphone is 5.9 x 3.2 x 0.4 inches. It weighs 6.3 ounces.
