U.S. Cellular is staying true to its word of expanding its range of devices that can connect to its high-speed cellular service, announcing today that the 4G LTE-enabled Motorola Electrify M will be landing on its network in a week's time.
The Motorola handset will be available on the carrier's website next Thursday, Nov. 8 and in-stores on Nov. 9. For customers fortunate enough to live in areas that support 4G LTE, the Electrify M will cost $100 after a $100 mail-in rebate, while those elsewhere will have to pay $150 for the phone, after a $100 mail-in rebate.
Hardware Specs
Sporting a 4.3-inch Super-AMOLED Advanced display, the latest smartphone from Motorola will pack a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and Corning Gorilla Glass, making it resistant to most scratches and scrapes of daily life. The handset will ship with Android 4.04 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and will be upgradable to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), though no specific roll out date was given.
Powered by a 2000 mAh battery, the Electrify M will house dual cameras, with an HDR-equipped 8-megapixel shooter in the rear and a 1.3-megapixel camera in the front, which is ideal for video chatting. Like most Android smartphones, this handset will allow users to surf the web with Google Chrome and sync with their desktop version of the web browser to share bookmarks and view the same tabs.
More 4G LTE
This news comes on the heels of U.S. Cellular's announcement that it will expand its 4G LTE coverage area to more than 30 new markets, including select cities in Iowa, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Oklahoma, as well as new LTE coverage to some of its existing markets in Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, Vermont and more. The carrier aims to offer the high-speed connectivity to at least 58 percent of its customers by year's end.
