Sprint's Samsung Galaxy Note II Can Now Show Two Apps Side-by-Side Thanks to Update

Sprint Galaxy Note II customers will be the first to see Samsung's notable multi-window viewing feature on their devices, as the carrier has released an update to bring the split-screen functionality to its version os the popular smartphone/tablet hybrid, along with some other enhancements.

Already available on Sammy's larger tablets, like the Galaxy Note 10.1, the Multi Window View feature allows users to run two apps on the screen simultaneously by splitting the display into separate sections.

The program has been noticeably absent from the U.S. version of the second-generation Note, with the four major carriers remaining mum on whether their models would receive it at all. Yet two weeks after the launch of its iteration, Sprint has broken the silence, enabling the missing feature with the L900VPALJC update.

While the upgrade began rolling out today, it is being released in stages, with the carrier saying it could take up to five days for users to see the update on their devices. Those anxious Sprint Note II owners who can't wait to start multi-windowing can manually check for the update by going into Settings > System Update > Update Samsung Software > Check now.

Other Enhancments 

In addition to Multi Window View, Sprint users will see improvements to text notifications, which will now beep while in a voice call. Emails received when a device is on airplane mode or in a no coverage area will now go to Outbox as part of the update as well. In addition, the GPS system now allows lock settings to be defaulted by corporate device administrators,

Certainly the addition of multi-viewing functionality is the highlight of this update, though it remains to be seen if Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile will follow suit with a system upgrade of their own.
