Windows Phone 8 Won't Be Coming To Sprint Until 2013

Despite Sprint's director of consumer acquisition, David Owens, stating earlier this year that he was "bullish" on Windows Phone 8, there's been a mysterious lack of announcements about Microsoft's new mobile OS making its way to the carrier...until now: according to an emailed statement that PCMag received from the company, Windows Phone 8 won't be coming to Sprint networks until 2013.

All three of the other major carriers -- AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile -- have already announced their Windows Phone 8 offerings, but Sprint said in its emailed statement, "Sprint and Microsoft are partnering to bring Windows Phone 8 to Sprint's customers -- operating on its 4G LTE network -- next year."

Sprint only carried one phone, the HTC Arrive, that ran Microsoft's last-generation OS, Windows Phone 7, and it produced underwhelming sales. Though the carrier, which is currently in the process of being acquired by Japan's Softbank, hasn't had the best experience with Windows Phone thus far, Sprint appears to be giving it a second chance come 2013, though it's currently unknown which models it will offer.
