Samsung Galaxy S III from T-Mobile Gets Android 4.1 Upgrade

T-Mobile has just become the second U.S. telecom to introduce and Android 4.1 upgrade for its version of the Samsung Galaxy S III.

It brings some new features, including Google Now, expandable notifications, Android Beam (letting users share media with other users), and new widget capabilities.

In addition, Samsung has added some of its own changes, including camera enhancements, new capabilities for the Pop Up Play picture-in-picture video window, Easy Mode for first-time smartphone users, Blocking Mode to disable all incoming calls or notifications for a set period of time, and new keyboard options, including Swype.

The update is available by connecting the smartphone to a PC via Samsung Kies, or by checking for the update on the Galaxy S III itself in Settings > About device > Software update. For more information, visit T-Mobile's support site.

Sprint has already released its version of this upgrade, but AT&T, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular have not.
