Verizon Finally Introduces Samsung Galaxy Note II

Verizon customers, the long wait for Samsung's latest super-size smartphone is over: the Galaxy Note II has hit store shelves.

Big Red is the last of the Big Four carriers to offer this device, whose 5.5-inch display sets it apart from the pack.  All Verizon's rivals introduced their versions weeks ago. Still, it isn't like this device has become obsolete while customers were waiting.

The telecom is asking $300 with contract for this phablet. That's the same price Sprint and AT&T are asking, but $70 less than T-Mobile.

Overview of the Samsung Galaxy Note II

The Galaxy Note II has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, large enough for some call it a tabletphone -- part tablet, part phone. Still,with the steadily increasing size of handsets, this device is only a bit bigger than many of its rivals. Its screen has a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels (720p).

It runs Google's Android 4.1 (Jelly bean) with TouchWiz 4.0 on a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB of built-in storage, with a microSD slot to add more.

The device is powered by a 3100 mAh battery, and comes equipped with both an 8-megapixel rear- and 1.9-megapixel front-facing cameras. Verizon's version supports the carrier's 4G LTE network, and has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

Verizon is the only carrier that managed to squeeze its logo onto the front of the Galaxy Note II.
