Samsung Releases Galaxy Muse Music Player in the U.S.

While most smartphones have taken the place of MP3 players, as many people use their handset to store a library of their favorite tracks, Samsung has found a way to bring the music player back with the U.S. launch of its Galaxy Muse, an iPod Shuffle-esque device aimed at Galaxy S and Note owners.

Measuring in at just 1.7-inches tall by 1.25-inches wide, the Galaxy Muse allows users to sync music directly from their Samsung Galaxy smartphones, giving them a smaller option to get their music on the go. Freeing customers from having to connect the MP3 player to a computer for syncing, the Samsung Muse connects to smartphones through a USB-to-3.5mm headset jack via a connector cable and a free companion Music Sync Android app. Equipped with 4GB of memory, the music device boasts up to 6 hours of battery life, according to Samsung.

The convenience of a smaller device is meant to be the selling point here, as Sammy reminds users of how cumbersome a phone can be while on a run or at the gym. First launching in South Korea back in October, the Galaxy Muse offers users a new concept in the functionality of MP3 players, though despite its rounded build, the device looks awfully similar to Apple' iPod Shuffle. Users can clip the music player onto a shirt or sleeve and control their playback with options such as shuffle, skip and back tracking.

Compatible with the Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Note II, the Muse retails for $50 and is available in Pebble Blue and Marble White.
