Samsung Galaxy S IV Set to Debut in February

Earlier this week CNET revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S IV won't be announced at CES 2013 in January.

Instead surprisingly enough, the Korean tech company is planning to reveal the continuation of its flagship handset at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February, according to a Korean Times report.

It's a strange move considering that Samsung opted to not show the Galaxy S III at last year's MWC , and has stated several times that it prefers to make big announcements at its own events.

Nevertheless, it appears Samsung is ready to show the latest of the Galaxy S series model at MWC, and if history repeats itself this could be the next big mobile device. Despite not knowing much about the Samsung Galaxy S4, it's safe to say that the device will have a fair bit of momentum at launch, thanks to the success of the its predecessor. The Samsung Galaxy S III set the mobile world on fire this year, rivaling Apple's iPhone and becoming the world's most popular smartphone.

Projected Specs and Release

Filling the shoes of the Samsung Galaxy S III won't be easy, but the reported specs of the Galaxy S IV suggest that the device just may be up to the task.

According to Reuters, the new handset will offer a more powerful quad-core processor, 13-megapixel camera, and a 5-inch, 1920 x 1080, 441ppi display. Additional reports from analysts at USB and Stanford Bernstein also project that unbreakable plastic displays are a possibility for the device.

However, both firms note that this technology is more likely to hit markets after the S4 is released, which according to Reuters and USB is likely to be some time this April.
