If you have been less than satisfied with the quality of Maps on Windows Phone 8, you will be happy to know that there is a small update now available for the app.
The download, which is roughly 286 MB in size (only slightly larger than the original size of the Maps app), does not appear to have a push mechanism, so users won't be notified when their phone is ready to receive it. Instead, they will have to check for the availability of the update in the settings menu to see if they can download it.
As for the content, there has been no official statement or description from Microsoft regarding the finer details behind the update. WMPoweruser, however, which first reported the spotting of the update in the wild, has said that it appears to improve the detail and traffic info on the maps, including those downloaded for offline use.
