Apple iPhone Finally Coming to T-Mobile in 3-4 Months

When T-Mobile revealed last month that it will, at long last, be getting the iPhone, it was vague about exactly when. In an interview at CES, the telecom's CEO was a bit more specific.

John Legere told Reuters that T-Mobile will introduce Apple's smartphone " in three to four months as opposed to six to nine months."

Although T-Mobile doesn't currently offer the iPhone, quite a few of its customers use one anyway. Legere said this week that there are 1.9 million Apple users on his company's network, and that number grows by 100,000 every month.

No Subsidies

Legere also revealed that 3-4 months is also the timeframe for the implementation of T-Mobile's new strategy of ending subsidized pricing for mobile phones. Instead, the wireless carrier is going start charging the full price for handsets and also reducing the monthly cost of its voice and data plans.

While subscribers will surely enjoy lower monthly fees, there might be some sticker shock when it comes time to buy a new device. T-Mobile hasn't revealed what it plans to charge for the iPhone 5, but Apple asks $650 for an unsubsidized version of this phone.
