There has been a spate of rumors in the past few weeks about Apple's plans for upcoming smartphones. Some of these say the company is developing a device with a larger screen, other say it is not doing anything of the kind.
Earlier this week, the Asia-based technology website DigiTimes was the source of an unconfirmed report that an iPhone with a 4.8-inch screen is going to come out this summer. This is not the first rumor of a larger iPhone, but it was the most detailed.
This was followed the next day with a report also from DigiTimes that Apple is not planning a larger iPhone at all -- instead the company is working on two smartphones with 4-inch screens that will use In-Cell technology, just like the current iPhone 5.
Still, this source says that a handset with the larger display is coming from Apple, just not this year.
All the contradictory reports may be a sign that, at this point, it's too early to say what Apple's plans for 2013 are with certitude.
