The Samsung ATIV Odyssey, which was given a formal reveal at this year's CES after flying under the radar for a few months, has now been given an official release date and price.
The ATIV Odyssey will be available in both Verizon's retail stores and online starting tomorrow, January 24. It has been priced at $50 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract. The smartphone will be available exclusively on Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network.
For those not familiar with the device, get some of the details on the ATIV Odyssey from our hands-on at CES, which can be found here.
Given its low price, it's no surprise that this is a mid-range smartphone, so the specs include a modest 4-inch 800 x 480 (WVGA) Super AMOLED Display. It runs Windows Phone 8 on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, with 8GB of onboard storage, but no microSD card slot. It has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera.
That's not to say the ATIV Odyssey is completely underpowered. Unlike many Verizon handsets, it is a woldphone that can connect to the GSM wireless networks in 220 countries. And while in the U.S., it can access Big Red's 4G LTE network.
