HTC M7 Rumored to Debut as HTC One

HTC's newest flagship smartphone, the HTC M7, is expected to be revealed next week; and according to an unconfirmed report, the handset manufacturer will drop the codename to return to its "HTC One" branding.

If this turns out to be the case, the new name could prove confusing for consumers. The average consumer may not understand that last-year's HTC One X+ is actually less powerful than the soon-to-be-revealed HTC One.

Still, it's not surprising that HTC would want to perpetuate its flagship "One" line. It is the same idea as Samsung's popular Galaxy series, which has come to resonate with consumers. 

A New Picture

Additionally, an image of the upcoming handset was also leaked via Twitter by @evleaks. The picture is reported to have been taken with an HTC One using its "ultrapixel" technology.

The most notable change to the typical design layout is the reduction of buttons. According to this newly-leaked image, the device will only include "Back" and "Home" keys.

Specs

The upcoming smartphone is expected to offer a 4.7-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,300 mAh battery.

The handset is also rumored to be powered by a 1.7Ghz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, with Android 4.1.2 with an updated version of the HTC Sense user interface. The device is also expected to offer 32GB of storage, but with no microSD card slot.

The HTC  One (M7) is set to be revealed next week Feb 19.
