Apple Fixes Exchange Bug with iOS 6.1.2 Update

The bug that has plagued many users of the iPhone and iPad has apparently been fixed. Apple released iOS 6.1.2 to handle this serious flaw in iOS 6.1.

The official description for this new version indicates there is only one change:

Fixes an Exchange calendar bug that could result in increased network activity and reduced battery life.

What's the Bug?

Not too long after the release of iOS 6.1 in late January, some users began to complain that the battery life of their iPhone had dropped significantly. Last week, Apple revealed that there's a problem in the latest version of the iOS that can affect those who use Microsoft Exchange, causing battery drain on the iPhone and getting the user locked out of their Exchange account.

The release of iOS 6.1.2 makes no mention of another reported issue in the previous version of this operating system. A bug in iOS 6.1 makes it possible for someone to bypass the security lock on an iPhone. Doing so just requires making and canceling an emergency call from the lockscreen and pressing the power and home buttons in the right sequence.

iOS 6.1.2 is available as a free software update. Users can install it by hooking their phone, tabet, or handheld to a compuer running iTunes, or it can be downloaded and installed OTA (over-the-air) directly on the device through Settiings > General > Software Update.
