GoSmart Mobile is a new brand being offered by T-Mobile. It offers a range of wireless service plans with requiring service contracts.
For $35 a month, subscribers can get unlimited talk and text, as well as unlimited 2G data. This should give service fast enough for email and light web browsing, but not streaming video or audio.
For an additional $10 a month, subscribers can add 5 GB of 3G data, which is fast enough for streaming access. When the monthly allotment is through, speeds drop to 2G.
GoSmart Mobile also offers a $30 a month unlimited talk and text plan.
The service is clearly aimed at those who already have a handset and want service for it. Still, customers have the option of buying either a very entry-level Android smartphone from ZTE or a featurephone with a QWERTY keyboard.
Those who already have a smartphone can buy a SIM card from GoSmart Mobile for $8. This will work in devices that take full-size SIM cards -- there is no micro-SIM available at this time.
