Samsung Galaxy Camera Wi-Fi Will Offer a Cheaper Option for Those Wanting an Android-Based Camera

Last year, both AT&T and Verizon brought out the Samsung Galaxy Camera, a point-and-shoot that runs Google Android. A version of this device that depends on Wi-Fi for its Internet connection has just been announced.

This will have all of the same features but without a 3G/4G connection, which will make it a more affordable option for those who do not need to be constantly connected to the Internet. However, Samsung has not announced exactly what this version will cost.

Powered by Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) on a quad-core processor, the Galaxy Camera will run Touchwiz software similar to that of Samsung's other high-end devices, allowing to easily share pictures with the Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II.

It is going to have a 4.8-inch display with an HD Super Clear LCD touchscreen.

The Galaxy Camera is meant to meet the user's photographic needs first, while doubling as an Android device that can easily upload media to the Web.

The camera will offer customers the capabilities of most point-and-shoots, thanks to its 16 megapixel lens, 21x optical zoom and optical image stabilization for videos and stills. Though unlike a basic camera, it will come with a variety of photography-focused applications, including photo and video editing tools..

A release date for the Samsung Glaxy Camera Wi-Fi has yet to be revealed.
