With the PadFone series, Asus offers something different: a phone that can be docked with a large screen to convert it into a tablet. A new iteration was announced today at MWC.
The PadFone Infinity will consist of a 5-inch 1080p Android smartphone than can be combined with a 10.1-inch 1080p Infinity Station screen.
The handset will run Google Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) on a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, with 2GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Other features of the third-generation PadFone are going to include LTE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and a 2,400mAh battery. A 13-megapixel camera will be in its back, and a 2-megapixel one will be on the front.
To be clear, the Infinity Station will not be a stand-alone tablet, it's an accessory for the smartphone. It will have a battery that can re-charge the handset up to three times.
The Asus PadFone Infinity will launch in Taiwan in April, and in parts of the rest of the world in the second quarter of this year. It will cost €100 ($1325).
