Russian Site Leaks Info on Entry Level Samsung Galaxy Core

Budget-minded smartphone shoppers may have a new option on the horizon, with reports coming from a typically reputable Russian website saying that a low-end handset from Samsung, dubbed the Galaxy Core, is in the works.

Not to be confused with the rumored Samsung Galaxy S IV Mini, the Galaxy Core has a 4.3-inch, 800 x 480 display and is powered by a dual-core, 1.2 GHz processor. Other specs include 768 MB of RAM, 8 GB of onboard storage (expandable via microSD), and 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. One other major feature is that it is expected to have dual SIM card slots.

The Galaxy Core also has a 1,800 mAh battery and, although it has yet to be confirmed, will probably run Android OS 4.1 skinned with Samsung's TouchWiz UI.

Though there is no information yet on a release date -- or region availability -- the leak on the website, hi-tech@mail.ru, said that the Galaxy Core is expected to go for 14,000 rubles (or roughly $430).
