Apple Releases iOS 6.1.4 Update for iPhone 5

As Apple continues to ready its new iOS 7 mobile operating system, the company today released an update to iOS 6 for the iPhone 5.

iOS 6.1.4 is listed by Apple only as including an "updated audio profile for speakerphone." The update is available for iPhone 5 -- and only iPhone 5 -- users to download now.

It can be downloaded either directly from the device or via iTunes.

There has been no word from Apple about whether or not the update also includes the kinds of security and bug fixes that are standard in most iOS updates.

However, Apple had not previously announced the update or released it to developers prior to today's public release, suggesting that it does not contain any fixes.

Apple is expected to show off iOS 7 at its WWDC 2013 developers conference on June 10, and to release the new OS to developers around September. iOS 7 is rumored to feature a flatter, more modern design.
