Reports Indicate BlackBerry Q10 Supply Issues in UK, Canada

Though reviews and early sales in the UK and Canada of the BlackBerry Q10 have been generally positive, there's a storm brewing on the horizon for the ailing company. Broker houses Canaccord Genuity and Jefferies are both reporting that the handset is starting to run into supply issues.

Demand will outstrip the current supply of Q10 handsets, according to Canaccord Genuity, while Jefferies also cited "limited stock" of the device in Canada and Britain. The report from Jefferies comes as a result of the broker's checks with both mobile carriers and retailers in the two countries, such as Bell, Rogers and Telus in Canada and Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone, and Orange in Britain.

Canaccord Genuity, meanwhile, has also found that sales of the Z10 have already begun to taper off, especially in the US, painting a bleak picture for BlackBerry. The broker's findings are reflected in its May quarter estimates, which have subsequently dropped from 3.3 million BlackBerry units to 2.8 million units.
