Huawei W1 Coming to the US via Walmart This Month

Products from Huawei, which is based in China, aren't exactly prominent in the United States, mostly due to the American government's concerns over spying and cyberattacks. But despite the company's relatively low presence stateside, Huawei announced today that its Windows Phone 8-based handset, the W1, will be coming to the US via Walmart.

In terms of specs, the W1 is outfitted with a 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU and a 4-inch, 800 x 480 display. Onboard storage is rather limited, with only 1.7 GB of space, but it is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD. Other specs include a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Huawei has made no indication of how much the W1 would cost, but it did say that it would be released sometime this month on Walmart's website and at select retail stores. One other notable factor is that the W1 will be available as part of a prepaid, no-contract plan.
