The wait for Motorola's newest line of Droid handsets may finally be over, with Verizon just having sent out invitations for a press conference on July 23. The invitation promises to "unveil the next generation of one our most popular family of devices", which is likely a reference to Motorola's Droid line of smartphones.
Verizon's expected Droid unveiling makes sense given that earlier leaks have suggested that the manufacturer is reportedly planning on releasing three new Droid devices this summer: the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini. The Ultra will serve as the flagship, while the Maxx will likely be a slightly bulkier version that sports a bigger battery (a la the RAZR and RAZR Maxx). The Mini, as the name suggests, is expected to be a more compact, more affordable, and lower-specced version of the Ultra.
These reveals likely will not be the biggest announcement coming from Motorola in the coming weeks, however, as the company is expected to announce its new flagship handset, the Moto X, later this summer.
