We've all been there: you think you have enough of a charge to get through the day, but before classes are over, your phone kicks the bucket. There's nothing worse than when your phone dies on the road and you don't have access to an outlet, so why not pack a little something just to be safe?
Enter the Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation. The Juice Pack Powerstation lets you plug in your phone (or tablet) for an on-the-go charge, and with a 4,000 mAh power capacity, it should have enough to fully charge any smartphone out on the market today. Thanks to what Mophie calls a "special high-output battery," the Juice Pack Powerstation can supposedly charge four times faster than traditional back-up USB batteries. It can even switch charging outputs on the fly for different devices, with options for 500 mAh, 1 amp, and 2.1 amps. The different charging options provide users with better conversion efficiency, which ultimately means that more power makes its way to the phone.
And the Juice Pack Powerstation is easy to toss into a pocket or backpack before leaving home, given its extremely portable build. With dimensions of 2.28" x 4.09" x 0.53", the Juice Pack Powerstation is roughly the size of an Apple iPhone with some added thickness. It has a sleek, modern build to it, with a soft-touch black (or red or white) finish and a metal band that runs around the outer edge. Aside from the full-sized USB and micro USB ports on one end, there is also an "invisible" set of four LED lights to show the amount of juice remaining in the pack.
Using the Juice Pack Powerstation is as simple as plugging in your device via the full-sized USB port and hitting the status indicator button to get the charging going. Once it's been drained, the Juice Pack Powerstation is charged via the micro USB port and can be plugged into the wall or into your computer. The only caveat, though, is that it doesn't have pass-through capability, so you won't be able to charge your phone while the Juice Pack Powerstation is plugged in and being recharged.
The Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation goes for $80 and is available through Mophie's website and a number of other retailers (including carriers like Verizon Wireless). The unit is compatible with a vast range of different smartphones, but just to be safe, check out Mophie's compatibility chart, which can be found here, to see if your device is listed.
