Report: O2 to launch two new XDA models

Tekguru in the UK has gotten a hold of a draft press release from European wireless carrier O2 that purportedly reveals two new models in the XDA family of Pocket PC phones. The two new XDAs, dubbed the IIs and the IIi, bear a distinct resemblence to HTC's Blue Angel design, also known as the XDA III. According to the release, the XDA IIs will have a 400 MHz processor, quad-band GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth, WiFi, 128 MB RAM, and a nearly 1500 milliamp-hour battery. The IIi is supposed to add a 520 MHz processor and 1.3 megapixel camera. Both are to run Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.

PalmOne stock sinks on Blackberry news

Shares of PalmOne traded lower on Wednesday following an announcement of RIM's new Blackberry model, a competitor for PalmOne's Treo line. At the end of trading, the stock had lost $4.57 per share, a 13% drop, to stand at $29.79. This marks the second time in as many weeks that PalmOne stock has suffered double-digit loss based on reports of a new competitor to the Treo.

Nokia reveals new Communicator 9300

Nokia is trying again to entice users with its Communicator line of keyboard-based phone/PDAs. The new 9300 uses the classic Communicator form-factor: a 'candy bar' for phone use which unfolds to reveal a larger screen and QWERTY keyboard for handheld use. The 9300 seems to be intent on shaking the nickname, 'The Brick,' that has plagued its kin. Compared to its beefier predecessor, the 9500, the 9300 has no camera, no WiFi, and a reduced size battery, all contributing to reduced size and weight.

However, at am expected price of around $800, I doubt that the 9300 will make it very far outside the enterprise market.
