Earlier in the week we brought you news that PalmSource had announced three new ODMs. One of those was PiTech, who already has a working phone ready for sale.

PiTech won't actually sell this unit on its own. Instead they've actually produced several that have begun various certification processes. When a carrier or electronics company decides to sell a Palm OS smartphone, they'll be able to buy this design from PiTech, which will save massive amounts of time and money. PiTech cashes in as they'll be producing the units. It's really a great plan for smaller companies that don't have the skillset to pull something like this off on their own. Time to market is the biggest gain, since the unit will already have preliminary approvals by the time it's sold.

Specs and release have not yet been determined as these will change by the time the design is sold. But here are a few pictures to get a flavor of what's coming.
