Rumors have been circulating that palmOne plans to embrace WiFi a bit more by bundling their WiFi card with the Tungsten T5 and Zire 72 without raising the price of each PDA. Our sources within palmOne deny this is the case, saying bundling may occur, but the cards will be anything but free.
According to our contacts, the palmOne WiFi card is selling very well and is gaining momentum. They did indicate that bundles will likely occur, this is something that happens with regularity. However, the rumors indicating the cards will be free is not true. They could be discounted as part of the bundle though, but don't expect massive price reductions.
Many have called for palmOne to integrate WiFi into their PDAs and Smartphones. There was some hope that we'd see new palmOne units as early as mid-March, at the CTIA trade show. palmOne won't have a booth there though, which likely means they won't be making any announcements. The next most likely venue would be the PalmSource Developer's Conference in May.
