Windows Mobile 5 upgrade policies for Fujitsu, Garmin, PPC phones
In the wake of the Windows Mobile 5.0 announcement, news has been trickling in from various manufacturers about their plans, or lack thereof, for WM5 on their existing devices. The good news is that the Fujitsu LOOX 720 is going to receive an upgrade despite having a minimal amount of available flash ROM. Unfortunately, not on the upgrade list is the Loox 400 series, Garmin's M5, and the HTC Harrier PocketPC phone--which is sold under the PPC6600 and XV6600 names. This suggests that the HTC Blue Angel, a GSM equivalent to the Harrier that is sold as the MDA III, SX66, and PDA2K, is also unlikely to receive an upgrade.
Handango: Windows Mobile customers tops in satisfaction
According to a user survey conducted by Handango, Windows Mobile users are the most satisfied with their devices of any mobile users.
Dell's Axim handhelds were rated number one in user satisfaction, with 59% of owners rating the devices "Excellent" and 37% rating them "Good," for an overall approval rating of 96%. The next most favored device family was the RIM Blackberry, followed by the palmOne Treo in third.
The survey also indicated that of the 92% of users who had upgraded to a new device at least once, previous Windows Mobile users were most likely to buy another Windows device, and that users of other platforms were more likely to switch to Windows than a Windows user was likely to switch to another platform.
