The New Sony Reader at CES - The Features you Don't Know About ! (pics, details)

We checked out the new "Sony Portable Reader System" at the Sony booth on the CES floor. Due for release later this spring, the new PRS-500 from Sony promises to simulate more of a "real book" reading experience and more. Tablet PC's, notebook computers and PDA's all make for good devices to read ebooks. However Sony has created the new "Sony Reader" to fill a gap in the experience that may need to be filled.

So just what is it that makes this device extra suitable for reading ebooks? For starters Sony claims that the Sony Reader uses "electronic paper  technology" in the unit display. The idea is that the text and content appears just the way it would look in a paper book. Additionally, Sony is boasting that this display allows for light to enter and effect the "pages" just the way it would in a real book. The display is designed to work perfectly indoors and outdoors allowing the user to enjoy reading just as if the text and images were printed on paper.

The Sony reader provides a host of extra features and functionality. Users will be able to view RSS news feeds, blogs and .PDF files. And as a bonus, the Sony Reader also acts as an MP3 player. So if all this sounds like it's the product for you, you'll need to save up $349 to grab your very own Sony Reader.
