Holiday Guide: Top Apple Smartphones

by Reads (2,819)

Holiday Guide 2012Ever since the original iPhone helped revolutionize the consumer phone market in 2007, the company has been a major force in the industry. While not always the top-selling type of smartphone, Apple’s handsets are still very popular, with each new device selling by the million.

Buyers are generally attracted to the iPhone’s easy-to-use design — Apple’s engineers tend to emphasize simplicity over raw power. Another draw is the 700,000 apps that are available.

In the U.S., these models can be purchased from AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. There are a range of options at different price points.

#1 – #3 Apple iPhone 5

Apple iPhone 5Unlike other companies, Apple puts out just one smartphone a year, which becomes its flagship device. The newest model from Apple debuted just a month or so ago, and brings some much-needed features to this platform. It is Apple’s first with 4G LTE, and is also the first with a 4-inch display — all its predecessors have 3.5-inch ones.

There are actually three iPhone 5 models. The base version has 16GB of internal storage and sells for $200 with a two-year wireless service contract. A 32GB version is $300, while a 64GB one will set you back $400.

#2 Apple iPhone 4S

Apple iPhone 4SAlthough it is no longer Apple flagship handset, the iPhone 4S is still a very capable model available at a good price.

It has a 3.5-inch “Retina” display, which means pixels are too small to be seen by the human eye with the display held a normal distance away. Other feartures include an 8MP camera, and support for the Siri voice-recognition system.

There is only one version of this smartphone available. This has 16GB of storage and sells for $100 with contract.

This was Apple’s first with a Retina display. It also has a 5MP rear-facing camera, as well as a front-facing one — something that has become standard on all this company’s handset.
