Acer has promised to release a netbook running Google's Android operating system later this year. It may be the first to do so, as one of its top rival, Asus, has pulled out of the competition.
The chief of mobile devices at Acer has essentially confirmed earlier reports by saying his company will likely launch its first phone running Google's Android OS this year.
The Acer A1 is scheduled for release in early fall. This will be this company's first smartphone running Google's Android operating system.
