In this week's editorial, Adama Brown discusses the effect the next-generation of the wireless Internet will have on mobile devices.
Today marks the first day that Palm Inc., formerly palmOne Inc., which was formerly Palm Inc., is now Palm Inc. again and trades under PALM and not PLMO on the Nasdaq. Confused? Well you should be. A new website, bright orange logo, and headquarters have been announced and revealed.
The highly popular and well designed Orange SPV C500 SmartPhone looks like it's about to be replaced in the European market by a similar looking music oriented SmartPhone being dubbed the SPV C550. The SPV C500 is sold in the U.S. as the Audiovox SMT5600 but there are currently no signs of this new phone jumping across the Atlantic.
The latest version of PhatNotes Smartphone Edition now supports Windows Mobile 2003-based Smartphone devices and new networks, such as Cingular, Orange, and others
I recently purchased the Audiovox SMT5600 (same as the Orange SPV C500 in Europe). Upon release in October the SMT5600 was available only on the AT&T network. But AT&T was bought out by Cingular in November and now the SMT 5600 is nowhere to be found on their website. However, the phone can still be purchased via Amazon.com, Buy.com and LetsTalk.com, hopefully Cingular continues this phone as it's not a stretch to say the Audiovox SMT5600 is the best Windows SmartPhone available today.
Orange is holding a 3-day "Code Camp" for mobile application developers in France and one lucky attendee will walk (or should we say "ride") away with a new Segway.
European wireless carrier Orange has announced the SPV E200, a smart phone that runs Windows Mobile 2003 and offers Bluetooth and a camera.
The Register is reporting that Orange will begin selling its branded version of the Treo 600 as early as next week. This news can't sit well for US customers considering Handspring/palmOne is based here! We can understand when new Clies come out a few days/weeks early in Asia, but when American companies start releasing PDAs oversees first, that's a problem.
HP has released a ROM update for the iPAQ h5400 series, Amazon has a low price for a 1 GB CF card, Orange SA's new Smartphone 2002 device has been delayed, and more.
