Samsung has finally made the i330 smartphone available for purchase. This Palm OS smartphone can connect to high-speed CDMA 1XRTT wireless networks.
The i330 from Samsung is the follow-up PDA to the popular i300 model. The i330 features a more stylish form factor and a few upgrades, the most important being a brighter screen. Anyway, it is now available for pre-order for $499 without service or $349 with a new plan.
Samsung has been showing off their NEXiO line of PDA's, most recently at a show outside of Paris yesterday. They feature Windows CE and an amazing 800 x 480 VGA screen and integrated WiFi.

In cooperation with Microsoft, Samsung today released details on a concept Pocket PC that attacks Palm OS PDA’s at their roots, the low-cost entry-level PDA. For the first time in a while, they’re talking grayscale. Get this, it weighs in at only 2.9 ounces, making it potentially the lightest PDA on the market.

Based on the original Silkyboard, which remapped the graffiti section of your Palm to match a QWERTY overlay sticker, Virtual Edition does almost the same thing, sans sticker.

No release dates on this device yet, but Samsung has decided to produce a PDA / Cell phone combo that runs on a Microsoft OS instead of their usual Palm based smartphones. The Samsung SCH-I600 leans more toward being a phone than PDA. Check out the pictures of the upcoming device in this article. Samsung will also release the SPH-i500, a Palm based 3G enabled smartphone, in conjunction with the SPH-i600 release.
As the flurry of news surrounding Samsung and their new PDA/phones continues, the FCC has given Samsung approval to sell the i-330 in the US.
Word is Samsung is showing off their new Smarthphone at CommunicAsia2002 in Singapore this week. They've also been promoting the M330, the replacement to the I300 that was due out in April.
