South Korea's Samsung Electronics plans to put on sale in the U.S. a new version of its Palm-OS based PDA cell-phone handset in April.
Building on the momentum from its popular I300, Samsung is rumored to be releasing a sexier unit with a brighter screen this summer. Details are thin, but PDAFrance and Palm Infocenter are both reporting that the new unit will have a 16-bit color screen, replacing the washed out 256. It will also use the CDMA standard for communications.
We heard the stories that Samsung officially released the much anticipated I300 last week, but the first glimpse of the PDA/phone combo took place on the Sprint website today.

Samsung, the Korean electronics giant, has introduced the I300 phone, and it's the smallest, sleekest combo device to date. The $500 phone is designed to work on the CDMA cellular phone system popularized in the U.S. by Sprint and Verizon, and will be initially sold by Sprint.
Consumer electronics giant Samsung announced on Thursday its plans to develop products that use Sony's flash-memory format, Memory Stick. The two companies have not yet signed an agreement, but one is expected soon. Neither company would discuss further details about the pact.
