Mobile World CongressComputer manufacturer Acer is seriously flirting with the idea of producing phablets in the second half of 2013.

Acer makes smartphones now, even if these aren’t widely available in the U.S.  It also makes Android tablets. Now its thinking about merging them.

Acer’s Yves Consendai revealed to TabTimes that although he had no official announcement to give, he did say that, for Acer “the phablet is naturally, something we feel pretty strongly about it. We have all this heritage of notebooks, tablets and Ultrabooks, and we’re gradually going into these 5-inch to 6-inch screen sizes in the second half of the year.”

A number of companies already make devices in this size range, with the best known device being the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
