AlphaSmart has extended its licensing agreement with PalmSource through December 31, 2008. This agreement gives AlphaSmart the ability to continue developing and selling devices based on the Palm OS software platform, and expresses the company’s commitment to the AlphaSmart Dana platform.
The Dana is a Palm OS laptop alternative that features an extra wide screen, a full integrated keyboard, and 25 hours of usage with each battery charge. A model is also available with built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless networking.
The AlphaSmart Dana is geared primarily toward the education market, and the company is committed to making the Dana the preferred choice for educators. It is currently used by more than 7,500 school districts across the United States.
