Apple iPhone 5SContrary to initial reports, customers shouldn’t hold their breath for a September release of the Apple iPhone 5S.

According to a research note by Citigroup analyst Glen Young, the iPhone 5S will likely be delayed until early October. Reports initially indicated Apple was hoping to release the smartphone in early September, but Young claims production issues will push the release date back two to four weeks.

Display issues seem to be the culprit this time, with the production problems pushing Young’s prediction back about two to four weeks. Young also claims the new iPad mini, which will be equipped with a Retina display will be delayed until the fourth quarter of 2013, which is also later than his initial estimates.
