HTC’s next smartphone running Google’s Android OS reportedly won’t debut later this month as had been previously rumored. In addition, the latest report also indicates that this device’s touchscreen won’t be as large as had been thought.
The HTC Passion will allegedly be one of the first models based on Qualcomm’s 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. It is also expected to be this company’s first with Android 2.0, the latest version of this operating system..
Earlier unconfirmed reports said that this product will debut in mid-December, but a new one says the release has been re-scheduled for early next year.
Reports also differ on the size of the Passion’s touchscreen. Previously, it was reported that this model will have a large 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen. The latest report says it will instead have a much smaller one: 3.5-inch.
This device will supposedly sport a a 5 MPx camera and a 3.5 mm headset jack. Mobile broadband, Wi-Fi, and a GPS receiver are also likely.
Coming to America
According to the earlier reports, the HTC Passion is headed for Verizon Wireless. This carrier will allegedly re-name it for its high-speed processor, and call it the HTC Dragon.
