While most handset manufacturers offer a wide array of handsets, Apple has stood firm with a single iPhone model, at least until now. Tuesday marked a new first for the electronic manufacturing giant as Apple introduced the budget-friendly iPhone 5C variant alongside the company’s new flagship iPhone 5S handset.
The Apple iPhone 5C will be comprised of a hard-coated polycarbonate material along with a steel-reinforced interior that will also serve as an antenna for the handset. The iPhone 5C will also feature an 4-inch Retina display with an integrated touch layer, the same A6 processor that powered the iPhone 5, an 8MP rear-facing camera and a slightly larger battery than the one issued in the iPhone 5.
The handset will release with five distinct colors: Blue, White, Pink, Yellow and Green. The iPhone 5C will be available with a two-year contract for $99 for the 16GB variant and $200 for the 32GB variant. Apple will start accepting pre-orders on September 13 and the handset will be available for purchase starting on Sept. 20.
