Apple has announced the release of iSync 1.0 and iCal 1.0.1. If you don’t know already, iSync is Apple’s software that renders all those third party Apple sync conduits useless. Clie owners rejoice the speed has improved!

The two major improvements that PDA owners care about are –

1) Palm sync’s are now much faster (the beta was terribly sloooow)
2) Improved configuration options for Palm OS devices

Apple has also updated iCal, the program which lets you manage multiple calendars and let’s you share data over the Web,

It seems virtually all Palm OS devices are now supported, you may view the entire list of supported devices here, including cell phones. Mac owners can dowload the software for free, but you must have OSX 10.2 or later for it to work.

I can’t help but wonder what this release does to small software companies like the folks who make The Missing Sync. Oh well, as it goes many times the innovators get left behind when big money gets involved.
