Apple has introduced a promised system software update for its smartphone and handheld. iOS 4.1 is the debut of this company’s gaming-oriented social networking service, as well as other enhancements and bug fixes.
iOS 4.1 also allows users to rent some TV shows for just 99 cents.
Most of the other enhancements are a bit more minor, such as improvements to the camera’s image quality and the ability to upload high definition video over a Wi-Fi connection.
In addition, this update includes a fix for the proximity sensor issue that some iPhone 4 users have reported. This causes the screen to turn itself back on during phone calls.

The iOS 4.1 update is available for the iPhone 4, 3GS, and 3G, as well as the three most recent versions of Apple’s iPod touch. However, the oldest versions of these devices will not get support for Game Center.
To install the latest version of Apple’s operating system, connect the smartphone or handheld computer to the Mac or PC running iTunes that the device normally synchronizes with.
